 “Navratri” is a monochromatic acrylic painting composed of loose sheets of paper overlapping one another horizontally and vertically in multiple scales to depict how our minds manipulate memories as time progresses. It narrates one of my fondest memories with my mother where she’d arrange her daughters’ silver jewelry across the living room every autumn and my sister and I would place bets on which bracelet, necklace, or jhumka we’d wear for a cultural festival called, Navratri.
